Satisfaction

"These Lions are just too talented for the Bears."

- Jon Gruden, 10/10/11

Indeed.

More tomorrow.

I think the greatest thing I saw all night was The Great Willie Young punching a hole in Jay Cutler's chest while Frank Omayele waved a hankie at him while he roared on by. Too bad Suh didn't get to put Cutler's head on a pike, but placing him on a funeral pyre and having Cliff Avril set it ablaze while Lovie Smith wept bitter tears and Mike Martz tried to figure out how to run more deep post patterns with a dead man at quarterback is pretty good too.

5-0, WOOHOO!!!

P.S. Nick Fairley sighting, here's to many broken QB's in his future

Really nice to see Jahvid Best get a chance to shine. He was a real treat to watch at Cal, and he's still every bit as fast.

Next week is going to be quite interesting...

Fuck. Yes.

Yeah, Jahvid Best breaking out was the icing on this delicious, delicious cake.

And, Whiouxsie, just know that I might damn you to hell at some point this week in my bloodlust. I apologize in advance and ask you to remember that in these strange and terrible times, these things happen.

I have to admit, I'm looking for those telltale dreads that obscure the "YOUNG" nameplate on the back of the jersey. Whenever the Lions were on defense I was primarily occupied with checking the linemen to see if Willie was out there on a particular series.

[I also half-expected supernatural shit to happen every time Gruden or Tirico called his full name.]

Neil,

Strange and Terrible Times are never dull. I like your guys, and will start pulling for them again after next week, but for now It Is, as they say, On.

Random thoughts:

1) Wow, 49ers vs. Lions in a game that may determine home field playoff advantage... who the hell saw that coming?

2) Man, anyone that thinks the Lions tackles are bad need to watch the DVR of this game. J'Marcus Webb and Frank Omayele suck, like capital S Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Cardboard cutouts of Anthony Munoz could have done better at blocking. Hell, cardboard cutouts of Robert Gallery could have blocked better.

3) Nobody can question Jay Culter's toughness anymore, IMHO. The poor bastard took a beating that would have put most other QB's in an ICU and single handedly kept the game from being a 77-0 beatdown.

4) Damn, but Jhavid Best has some WHEELS!

5) Whoiuxsie, I like the 49ers and all, but I would fear for the life and safety of Alex Smith if I were you. Suh looks pissed that he didn't get in on the sack party this week, Willie Young is faster off the edge than Cliff Avril, and Nick Fairley got his first taste of NFL blood tonight. It is indeed on.

Neil, you've really set up a cult favorite in Willie Young. Like Whiouxsie I was looking for The Great Willie Young on the field (and drew a few odd looks at the bar when I yelled that when he ate Jake Cutler's soul).

I was wondering, should he pay you in cash for your relaying of his epic deeds or should you be paid in the souls of the damned?

(Side note, outside of his cult following from this blog, he did put on a VERY solid showing outside of his penalties. It really goes to show that it's not necessarily the talent of our initial front 4 that deems us the best D line in the NFL, it's that a 7th round DE can make such a huge impact in a decisive game in only his second year.)

Damn Cutler looked a lot like Fran Tarkington, I can only assume that we are saving our "A" just pound the fuck out of them game for later? Neil is it true that the Great Willie Young flew the Atlantic with Lindbergh ?

Guys I am quite pleased by all of this, especially Jahvid Best's performance. Just pleased as punch.

Neil said...

Mike,

I am just content to be his humble chronicler during his journey through our cosmos.

Bubbalouuey,

Yeah, Cutler played out of his mind before being ultimately devoured.

Also, Willie Young flew across the Atlantic in 1517 on a giant eagle. Lindbergh's quaint little airplane ride just made him laugh.

Man, I knew you would be. I'm just sad that you no longer also have Zack Follett to connect you to my team.
