What in the FUCK?

Really? A first rounder for a 30 year old defensive end who is going to be a free agent after the season? Really? What are you going to do? Slap the franchise tag on him after he goes out and gets 4 sacks this season? What if no one else makes a play for him? Then you're stuck with an aging defensive end with a huge contract. Never mind the fact that the draft pick you traded will NO DOUBT end up being a top 5 pick. Never mind the fact that the guy you traded for is best suited for a 3-4 scheme. Never mind all that shit. I hate you, Al Davis.

"Hi, this is Al Davis. We're interested in trading for Richard Seymour."

"Well, we're not really . . ."

"I'll give you a first round pick."

"We'll have him to you tomorrow."

Click. And then hooting and hollering by the Patriots front office and crypt like silence in Uncle Al's office as he dribbles applesauce on his chin and then drifts off to sleep.

Trades like this are the NFL equivalent of the Patriots trading the school retard a hundred pennies for their ten dollar bill.

well, to be fair, the retard would've just wasted his ten dollars one something stupid like heyward-bey or jamarcus russell anyways. solid move imo

I like how this isn't like baseball and the trade isn't nullified. Conceivably, he could hold out for the remainder of his contract, the Pats could get the draft pick, and then re-sign Seymour next offseason. It also got me to thinking about the whole tuck ruling that put Brady on the map, the Randy Moss trade, and how the NFL is fixed as fuck and somehow the Raiders and Pats are tied together behind the scenes. I think it's because Belichick is gonna retire next year and be replaced by John Madden. And Belichick takes a year or two off then coaches the Raiders with Tedy Bruschi as his d-coordinator.
