The Raiders annual rebuilding effort
I'm going to say something that I fucking hate hearing people say: The Raiders weren't as bad as their record would indicate. Yeah, 4-12 is the shits, but they had a legit shot at winning every single game outside of the Green Bay game where they rolled the fuck over. A few breaks going their way and they could've been a .500 ball club. Most of those close losses can be attributed to quarterback play. Josh McClown sucks more than any QB I have ever seen. EVER. Think about the ground that covers. As a kid I watched the beloved Jim Plunkett take a seat in favor of Marc Wilson. I watched as Steve Beuerlein sat on the bench so Jay Schroeder could throw passes to the other team. I sat in amazement at the utter uselessness of Todd Marinovich, Donald Hollas, Vince Evans, Rodney Peete, David Klingler, Rick Mirer, Marques Tuiasosopo, Jeff George, Billy Joe Hobert, Rusty Hilger, the list is endless. And yet, through it all, no one has been as shitty as the Josh. Even Duante Culpepper with his bionic knees and 8 year old sized hands was half a step up from McClown. He found new and creative ways to lose games week in and week out. He is simply a loss magnet. And for whatever reason Kiffin has the steaming undies for him and wants him to come back next year to back up JaMarcus. Hoo-fucking-ray. Josh McCown is everything that is wrong with the Raiders rebuilding effort.
Placing your offense in the hands of a guy who couldn't get PT with either of the two franchises more poorly run than the Raiders (Cards and Lions) should have been a huge fucking red flag. And then, to make matters worse, after McClown went out there and proved to everyone that he has no business playing QB in the NFL Kiffin still hemmed and hawed about playing Culpepper. I honestly think had the Josh never gotten hurt Kiffin would've stayed with him all season long. The only silver lining I take from the QB position is that JaMarcus looked pretty good against the Colts JV defense.
I'm kinda pumped about the Raiders drafting 3rd or 4th. This means they are guaranteed to net one of the following potential impact dudes: Glen Dorsey, Jake Long, Chris Long or Darren McFadden. Of the 4 McFadden is the sexy pick, but I'd take Chris Long in a heart beat. Al Davis is a sucker for sentimentality, and drafting Howie Long's son is a move that I can see him making. Chris is one of the few defensive ends that I've ever seen literally win games for his team. He rates out slightly higher than Mario Williams, and we all saw what Mario is capable of this year. Kiffin is in love with eternally injured Justin Fargas and wants to bring him back, plus they'll have a healthy Michael Bush in the mix next year, so I can see them passing on McFadden regardless of how good he might be. After the epic failure that has been Robert Gallery I'd sooner expect to see pigs fly than Oakland take an offensive lineman this high. And seriously, if they hadn't invested so much money and effort into Gallery there is no way he'd even be on the roster. I have never seen a guy have as shitty footwork as him. When fucking 5'11 Elvis Dumervil is cold putting you on your ASS play after play, you really need to find yourself another line of work. With the retirement of Warren Sapp (thank GOD) Glen Dorsey would fill a need, but he'll be long gone by the time they pick.
Jerry Porter is a free agent and some team will likely offer him a ridiculous contract based on the his one decent season. The 49ers tend to over pay for an under talented receiver each off season, and I'm thinking JP is their man this year. The thing that killed the Raiders this year was having zero play makers on offense. Ronald Curry is an excellent possession receiver but he's just not much of a deep ball threat. Zach Miller came on towards the end of the season, but with teams blitzing as much as they did he was mostly in to pick up a blitzer. LaMont Jordan sucks, Domanic Rhodes is apparently hated by Kiffin and Jerry Porter quit on the team 3 years ago. They need a big play receiver, the one position this draft lacks.
I'll post more as the draft gets closer or if they really fire Rob Ryan.

Chris Long is a monster, having seen him here in Cville. That Patrick Kerney dude for the Seahawks led the nfl in sacks this year, but he's a pussy compared to Long. No shit. That dude will have like a thousand sacks in the NFL, because he's good, and he's white. NFL owners love white d-ends, and they play for 15 years.
